Among the posthumous tributes to Eusebio Leal, Historian of Havana that have begun, is the presentation on Sábado del Libro of the book Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. El diario perdido (Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. The lost diary), written by him.

The text contains the transcription, collated according to the original manuscript, of the personal notes of the Father of the Homeland covering the period from 25 July 1873 to 27 February 1874, the date of death of the leader of the Cuban independence movement.

In his presentation during the 2018 Havana Book Fair, Leal explained that "Céspedes wrote the diary in very difficult conditions, on small sheets, sometimes without ink he used a pencil; he also used abbreviations and Latin phrases, so the transcription demanded a very rigorous work."

The volume is a necessary book for understanding the history of Cuba, and includes the prologue signed by Dr. Hortensia Pichardo to the first edition of the Diario, and the words of the then Minister of Culture, Abel Prieto, when he presented the first Cuban printing, both from 1992.

With a design by Claudia Hernández Cabrera, the cover image shows the flag raised by the Father of the Homeland at the La Demajagua uprising, which can be found in the Sala de las Banderas of the Museo de la Ciudad (former Museo de los Capitanes Generales), with the tones and wear typical of this historical specimen.

Also on the title page is the signature of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, the only one that has been found where the hero signed his full name, and not the usual Carlos M. de Céspedes.

The book is a material elaborated with remarkable thoroughness and beauty that Ediciones Boloña makes available to the readers - in the weekly appointment at the Calle de Madera - who will broaden their knowledge about this part of Cuban history.

This will be a different kind of Saturday in within the walls of Havana, in Eusebio's Havana, to whom the concert of Maestro Cecilio Tieles will also be dedicated that day in the Basílica Menor de San Francisco de Asís, where he will perform works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, Juan Piñera, Nicolás Ruiz Espadero, José White ,and Louis Moreau Gottschalk on the piano.
