As «life accumulated in the altarpiece», the actor and director Rubén Darío Salazar , National Theater Prize 2020, considers his volume of articles and testimonies Alive Altarpiece. Notebook of a puppeteer , which the Editorial Tablas Alarcos has just presented, virtually, as part of the Day for the Cuban Book Day that takes place in our country from March 25 to 31.

Speaking to Cubaliteraria , the writer and playwright says that these pages reflect his faith in the altarpiece, many of his experiences and reflections in this regard, many of his dreams, in a journey that goes from the present to his professional beginnings in the theater for children and puppets in 1987. "And even a little earlier, in my conscious childhood, when my father would take me to the performances of the old Guiñol de Oriente, later Guiñol Santiago," he commented.

"Here I expose my travel logs on various scenic processes, among which are those of La virgencita de bronze , Por el monte carulé and Los dos princes , just to mention three works," says the writer and playwright, born in Santiago de Cuba in 1963 and later settled in the city of Matanzas, where he founded Teatro de Las Estaciones in 1994.

The also director of the National Guiñol Theater adds that Alive Altarpiece… also talks about his encounters and disagreements with the puppetry trade "in relation to the ethics, commitment and responsibility of artists."

His links with Dora Alonso , Carucha Camejo and René Fernández , essential personalities in the puppet theater in Cuba, are other topics that address the 13 texts by Rubén Darío Salazar gathered in this volume, which also contains a photographic appendix and the chronology of the plays by Teatro de Las Estaciones , from 1994 to 2018, closing date of publication.
