The arrival of September in Cuba is associated with the start of the school year, and there is nothing better than to dedicate the Book of the Month Space to a universal literary classic: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, by the American writer Lyman Frank Baum.

This incredible adventure of Dorothy Gale in the Land of Oz is for children, and it will be presented by Editorial Gente Nueva on September 20, in the Calle de Madera, in the Plaza de Armas, in Old Havana.

The book was a hit from its first edition, which sold out quickly, and its fame grew even more after the 1902 Broadway musical and the subsequent celebrated 1939 film.

Known simply as The Wizard of Oz, the text also owes its success to essential virtues such as wisdom, love and courage, which the reader will find to his or her advantage while enjoying a fresh read to which he or she will return more than once.
