The government of the Argentinean province of Tierra del Fuego informed that 71 people learned to write and reade with Cuba's Yo si puedo (Yes, I Can), and assured that the program offers more opportunities to citizens and guarantees rights.

It highlighted in a statement on Facebook that this tool allows building a more egalitarian territory.

With the coordination of Cuban teacher Isabel Cristina Fernandez and support from the A Better World is Possible foundation, a group made up mostly of senior citizens learned to read, write and improve their skills, as part of the first stage of the application of the method. The second period will last in November.

During the presentation of diplomas to the students, Tierra del Fuego Governor Gustavo Melella highlighted the importance of the initiative, and acknowledged the work by organizers and facilitators.

He pointed out that the great challenge is to achieve that the province be declared free of illiteracy because “everyone has the right to learn and the State has the obligation to provide all the necessary tools to make it happen.”
