The company Acosta Danza Yunior, under the general direction of Cuban leading dancer Carlos Acosta, opens today the season 'Islas' (Islands) at the Teatro Marti in this capital, with performances throughout this weekend.

Acosta Danza Yunior is the youth subdivision of Acosta Danza, founded by the famous dancer, and will stage the world premiere of ‘La casa rota’, a work by choreographer Osnel Delgado, with music by Aldo Lopez Gavilan.

The programme, scheduled for June 21, 22 and 23, also includes the pieces ‘Nosotros’, by Raul Reinoso and Beatriz Garcia; ‘Hibrido’, by Thais Suarez and Norge Cedeño, and ‘Fuga’, by Susana Pous.

The youth company is made up of dancers who have recently graduated from the Academy of this institution.

Since its recent foundation, it follows a contemporary line, with a clear influence of modern Cuban dance and the folkloric and popular dances of the island, without neglecting the technical development of classical ballet.

In addition, the new group seeks to take advantage of the power and creative audacity of the youngest professional dancers on the road to expressive renovation.

It integrates the work of choreographers, musicians, designers, stage technicians and visual artists from the island and other countries into its performances.
