The intentions of protecting the constructive heritage of one of the richest cultural regions of Cuba promote today the celebration of the International Workshop on Architecture, Design and Urbanism.

One of the proposals of the Office of the Historian of the City of Camagüey to solve the stand by of the traditional International Symposium Challenges in the Management of Cities that is traditionally celebrated in the city, will now allow the contest of specialists of professionals and lovers of urban planning from various institutions around the world.

The workshop, scheduled for February 3 and 4, 2023, will have an essence, in addition to the nature of competition, with budgets that help the community of researchers and executors of the city for the intervention of core areas and sites throughout the province, but especially the most important spaces for history and culture.

This type of event also pursues the best use of the cultural potential of the city of Camagüey, founded in 1514, and key to the tourist and therefore economic development of the country.

Coupled with the Arte Plaza Creative Industries project, the Historian’s Office also includes a creative circuit in the area declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

In statements to the press, María Isabel Torrens Amador, Urban Planning Specialist of the Master Plan Directorate, explained that after consultation with the population and integrated work with various entities “physical spaces with socio-cultural potential have been determined to be included in a first stage of proposition”.
