With the opening of Alejandro Garcia's personal exhibition "Marea Negra" (Black Tide) at the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, the "Cuba va conmigo" (Cuba Goes with Me) Festival of Cuban Residents Abroad was inaugurated in Havana on Friday.
Until November 12, 70 writers and artists from Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, France, Hungary, Italy, and Mexico are participating in the in-person and virtual event.
Musicians and dancers will perform at the Bertolt Brecht Cultural Center, the Teatro Nacional de Cuba’s Covarrubias Hall, and Las Carolinas Hall in Old Havana.
The exhibitions will take place at the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, the Experimental Graphic Workshop, the International Press Center, and the National Museum of Fine Arts.
With the participation of artists from Cuba and overseas, the “Cuba va Conmigo” Festival of Cuban Residents Abroad is a creative exchange that will also consist of music and dance performances.
The Ministry of Culture (MINCULT) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) organized the festival as an example of the relationship between Cuban institutions and Cuban artists and writers who live overseas.
