More than 40 countries will arrive through the virtual platform to the II edition of the Camagua Folk Dance International Festival 2021 to be held from December 17 to 19 with a preamble on the 16th, from the Principal Theater.
Sponsored by the International Council of Folklore Festival Organizations (CIOFF), and the Jorge Luis Betancourt Provincial Center for Music and Shows, the event will bring together the five continents to "encourage friendship between peoples and promote cultural exchange”, Fernando Medrano Vireya, president of the Organizing Committee and director of the Camagua Folkloric Company, specified in a press conference.
The Plaza de la Solidaridad, the Parque del Teatro Principal and the Avellaneda Theater hall will echo the meeting with the participation of amateur talent along with students of artistic education in the territory, who will multiply the scope with shows at hours of the afternoon and prior to the international functions that will conclude with the presentation of the host company.
Collateral activities will also enliven the second International Festival Camagua Folk Dance 2021 from the Multicine Casablanca with a day dedicated to dance and the screening of the documentaries Rumbatá by the director Isabel Santos, and Camagua, produced in 2016 by Rudy Mora and Orlando Cruzata.
"The challenge is precisely to maintain the level, not only with artistic education, but with amateur groups, evaluated by the National Council, the participation of methodologists from all over the country, as well as important figures, for us it will be a vital encounter” said Tamira González Jiménez, provincial director of Culture.
With respect to the first edition, 14 countries are incorporated, which represents a growth and greater wealth for the public who will be able to enjoy new cultures, rhythms, colors and idiosyncrasies, as well as national guests such as the main figures of the National Folk Ensemble of Cuba and Traditional Dances of Cuba JJ.
