Scheduled for November 8 to 10, the IX International Video Art Festival of Camagüey (FIVAC), with a new date and programming scheme, returns to this city at the headquarters of El Circuito, on Calle de los Cines.
More than 93 works, by 102 artists representing 26 countries, will be in the exhibition, from Sweden, the United States, Italy, and Cuba, said Teresa Bustillo, curator, who added that this time there is a record in work presentations.
He considered that this is representative of pleasure, the inherent need of the human being to create, regardless of the unfavorable circumstances of the world in the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although this time the space for theoretical confrontation will not elapse, the coordinator of the La Próxima Resistencia project explained that the usual segment of samples from analogous festivals will be promoted at another time.
FIVAC will have the sole venue of The Circuit, starting at 6:00 pm on the eighth, while on the 9th it will open at 10:00am in its Pixel gallery, and will also offer screenings in its large room called Georges Méliès, with the corresponding health prevention measures for the current epidemic situation.
The initial date of the Camagüey appointment was in April, but the complex epidemic situation of the territory forced it to be postponed until November, when so far fewer cases of COVID-19 are reported but the situation is still complicated.
Organized by the Exhibition Circuit, Development and Research of New Media (CEDINM), FIVAC was founded in 2008 with an international scope in Cuba, and presents works every two years.
