Casa del Caribe is convening on Thursday from this city events related to music, dance, theater, popular religiosity and other artistic and academic manifestations with a view to the forty-first Caribbean International Festival.
oetry, orality, literary studies, archaeology, plastic arts and popular education also make up the wide range that will be covered by the days of celebration of Caribbean culture and history, from July 3 to 9.
The Caribbean that unites us, the main theoretical space of the Fire Festival, encourages the participation of academics and other scholars from different parts of the world, interested in the analysis of the future and the current situation of the peoples and nations of the region.
These issues will include the role of the Fire Festival as a sphere of legitimation of traditional popular culture, identity links with other areas of the world, intra-Caribbean relations and identity construction processes.
This 41st edition will pay tribute to the 40th anniversary of the founding of Casa del Caribe and will also focus on migratory and diaspora events, social projects and cultural policies, proposals for regional integration and social thought in the Caribbean.
Caribbean languages, imprint of tourism, traditional knowledge, generational and gender approaches, artistic creation; subject, power and hegemony in the contemporary world will also be topics that will be discussed by participants in these sessions.
Through conferences, panels and discussion groups, the debates will take place, in person and via Internet, under the epidemiological situation due to Covid-19.
