The Marti Program Office, which promotes the life and work of the National Hero, José Martí, announced here the day of tributes on the occasion of the 167th anniversary of his birth.
From January 22 to 29, the tributes to the hero of independence will defend the validity of his thinking in Cuban society, which has carried out multiple acts of relief against the recent outrageous actions against the busts.
The program includes the night vigil, scheduled on January 27, with the March of the Torches that travels from the steps of the University of Havana to the Martian Forge in this capital. For its part, the José Martí Memorial will develop the panel dedicated to the 90 years of Cuban intellectual Armando Hart, who played an essential role in the dissemination of Marti´s work in the Cuban educational system.
Likewise, the National Library of Cuba will reward the XXII edition of the national contest Leer a Martí, which promotes the approach of children and youths to the hero´s image. (PL) (Image: Archive)
