José Antonio Aponte y Ulabarra led the first conspiracy of a national nature, which records the history of Cuba, known as the Aponte Conspiracy.
The first uprisings in Havana occurred on March 15, 1812, at the Peñas Altas de Guanabo sugar mill, currently belonging to Havana del Este.
Aponte was a black Creole, a free man, a carpenter, who, like his ancestors, was part of the Morenos Battalion of Havana.
At the beginning of 1811, with the pretext of celebrating religious acts, black Cubans, mestizos from different social classes, free and slaves, began to meet with anti-slavery and separatist objectives, which extended from Havana to Puerto Príncipe, (Camagüey), Remedios , Bayamo and Holguin.
Enciclopedia del Color Cubano is a section that airs through the informative magazine Hola Aurora of Radio Enciclopedia, written and directed by María Mercedes Suárez.
