With the publication of a text written by German researcher Christiane Barckhausen-Canale, the Cuban embassy to Italy commemorated on Sunday the 124th anniversary of the birth of Italian artist and revolutionary Tina Modotti.

Letter to Tina Modotti is the title of the letter in which the German writer speaks to the communist fighter born in the city of Udine on August 16, 1896, who created 'a brief but intense relationship' with the Cuban revolutionary leader Julio Antonio Mella, murdered in Mexico city on January 10, 1929, Prensa Latina published.

'The world is very changed' and 'now you should see how neo-fascist forces raise their heads in your Italy, in my Germany, in our Spain and in other countries of the world', she added.

But you, Tina, would also choose to live in Cuba today, because it is the country in the world that, more than any other nation, holds high the solidarity banner. Not with fighting brigades, but with brigades of medical personnel who help where that help is needed, she stressed.

Christiane Barckhausen-Canale is recognized as the main expert on the life and work of the Italian artist and revolutionary, author of the book 'Truth and Legend of Tina Modotti', with which she won the Casa de las Americas Prize in 1988 and is also the administrator of the Tina Modotti archive in the Italian city of Bonefro.
