Cuban Miguel Diaz-Canel on Tuesday evoked the testimonial value of the work of photographer Alberto Korda, whose camera captured several of the most important moments of the Cuban Revolution.
Twenty years after artist's death, the president tweeted that 'his (Korda's) work, a very Cuban testimony of the Revolution, survives with the powerful force of the eternal.'
Diaz-Canel's tweet was illustrated with photographs of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro; Army General Raul Castro and Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, all taken by Korda.
'Korda, the artist behind the lens who captured these images, died on this date, 20 years ago, in Paris,' Diaz-Canel wrote.
Alberto Diaz Gutierrez, better known as Alberto Korda, was the photographer who took the iconic photo of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara on March 5, 1960, during the burial of the victims of the explosion of La Coubre ship.
His photographic work has been exhibited in major galleries in Europe and Latin America, as well as in other parts of the world.
