The Varadero Josone Festival: Rumba, Jazz & Son will be inaugurated on the 21st of August, in this famous sun and beach tourist destination, located in the province of Matanzas.
From the Parque Central Hotel in Havana, Issac Delgado, musician and president of the event, said that it will last until August 27 and will be held at the Sauto Theater in Atenas de Cuba and Josone Park in Varadero.
He acknowledged that the festival will reflect different genres, from trova, rumba, son and even urban music.
Among the main artists, he highlighted the presence of the Muñequitos de Matanzas, the Failde and Aragon Orchestras, Maikel Dinza and Soneros de la Juventud, Alexander Abreu and Havana D' Primera, Alex Duvall and Divan.
Renier Rodríguez, general director of the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (Egrem), an institution also in charge of the festival, explained that a new feature of this edition is the productive chaining, given the linking of the country's different economic actors.
Among the main lines of work, he highlighted the care of Josone Park, in accordance with environmental principles.
Odalys Alberdi Gaínza, director of events of Egrem, acknowledged the support of institutions such as the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, and the different hotel chains in charge of the lodging of those who will attend the event.
The Varadero Josone Festival: Rumba, Jazz & Son takes place within the framework of the 330th anniversary of the foundation of Matanzas (October 12) and the 160th anniversary of the Sauto Theater (April 6).
