More than 130 archival documents are presented at the exhibition "History and traditions of Russian-Cuban friendship in Crimea on the examples of people's diplomacy" opened in the city of Simferopol.

As reported to Prensa Latina the deputy governor of the Russian Republic of Crimea, Irina Kiviko, this is the first exhibition of archival materials, including documents and photographs related to the stay of Cuban delegations in Crimea, among these some high-level ones, as well as the learning of Cuban students.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of one of the most outstanding figures of the 20th century, Ernesto Che Guevara, which will be celebrated in June this year,” Kiviko said.

According to her, the exhibition covers the Soviet period of relations with Cuba. In particular, documents are presented on the stay in Crimea in 1959 of a trade union delegation headed by Armando Lores, secretary for organizational issues of the Cuban textile workers’ delegation.

Also shown are documents on the arrival of students from Cuba to study in Crimea in 1961, on meetings of Cubans in enterprises in Simferopol, in “Artek”, the visit of Cuban Foreign Minister Raul Roa Garcia in 1972 and others.
