Havana’s 32nd International Book Fair will promote reading by offering a large, varied an attractive book offer from February 15 to 25 at different locations in town.
During a press conference on Wednesday, the president of the Cuban Book Institute Juan Rodriguez said that the fair will be dedicated this year to two outstanding local intellectuals: Isabel Monal and Francisco Lopez.
The event will reveal the efforts to have a national reading program reach all schools and communities on the island and the institutional will to extend the values of books as well as the promotion of the collective right to have a richer culture, Rodriguez said.
Brazil’s ambassador to Cuba Christian Vargas, whose country is this year’s guest of honor at the fair, said that the event will be an important cornerstone in bilateral relations through culture. He announced the participation of some 30 Brazilian authors and the arrival here of some six thousand books in Spanish Language.
The fair’s program includes book launches, artistic and popular music shows, literary forums and many other activities in Havana, while other provinces will also host the fair during March.
