Spanish-French journalist and writer Ignacio Ramonet on Wednesday presented Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador with his book 100 Hours with Fidel, and the president thanked him and told him that he had read it.

At his morning press conference, nearly at the end, López Obrador said that Ramonet was in the room, so he invited him to the podium where the author handed over the book to the Mexican president.

Upon receiving it, López Obrador gave details of its contents and said that it dealt about Fidel Castro’s history, his relationship with his parents, his education as a Christian, and events of great importance such as the missile crisis in October.

Something that seemed very important to him is that in the book, Fidel anticipated the changing of the Revolution, because he was already preparing the handover of the leadership of the revolutionary movement, the Mexican head of State added.

López Obrador invited Ramonet to say a few words and the journalist and writer said that for him it was like a dream or a necessity to attend an early morning event because it is a very different way of alerting and informing the population and the media.

The fact that it takes place every day and he is exposed to all kinds of questions with clarity, simplicity and intellectual honesty, is something that goes beyond the way of expressing and giving fundamental information.

Or by denying information at a time when disinformation places truth in crisis and facts are increasingly difficult to establish due to the bombardment of lies.

As alternatives, we have the social media, but they also create many doubts about what is true and what would be credible information.

You are the protagonist of your truths, which are those that are based on facts, Ramonet said.
