The International Book Fair is taking place in Havana from February 6th to 16th on its 29th edition and is sponsored by the Cuban Book Institute. This event has been useful to encourage the habit of reading and to promote the Cuban writers.

The Book Fair has gained visibility and prestige abroad because of the participation of renowned international publishing houses to such event as well as agreement signings for the interchange of collaboration carrying out the year.

As result, the Cuban Book has a habitual presence in renowned Book Fairs of Europe such as that of Liber, which is sponsored by Spanish editorial houses; as well as that of Madrid and Frankfurt; meanwhile, it participates in Latin American cities such as  Panama, Guadalajara, Montevideo, Costa Rica, and Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires Book Fair will take place from April 28th to May 18th,  and Havana will be the guest city on occasion of its 500th anniversary that we have recently celebrated on November 16th, 2019. This way, Havana would be the 8th city that will receive such honor since 2013 when FILBA (per its initials in Spanish) began to give that kind of nomination.

In Buenos Aires Book Fair, not only editorial houses from Havana will participate, but also from other Cuban provinces. Also, different artistic expressions will be included such as music, dance, cinema, visual arts, which will show the most genuine representation of the Cuban culture.

Another significant participation of the Cuban Book will be the Beijing International Book Fair that will take place from August 26th to 30th. Cuba will be the guest country, on occasion of the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relationships between Cuba and the Popular Republic of China. It will be the fourth time that Cuba will participate in the Beijing Book Fair. In 2019, Cuba also participated in such events and registered over 329 thousand visitors, which represented a figure higher than the other 2 600 participants.

On the other part, in late 2021, Cuba will participate in Argel Book Fair, as a guest country. Cuba participated in such an event in 2019 after the Ministries of Cultures of both countries had been signed agreements in the summer of 2019.

Finally, the Cuban Book has turned into a link to consolidate ties of brotherhood among Cuba and other countries, meanwhile, events such as the Cuban Book Fair makes it visible all over the world that is a carrier of a message of peace towards the whole world.
