The International Jazz Plaza Festival always has exciting performances, and this year is no exception. The show, called Noche Insular, will take place on Saturday and Sunday in the Avellaneda Hall of the Teatro Nacional. It’s a Cuban-French immersive event, featuring talented guest artists and the magic hands of José María Vitier.
The Noticiero Nacional de Televisión has reported that the show will be a re-enactment of a concert that took place in 2023 in Enghien-les-Bains, on the outskirts of Paris, with the support of the Centre for Digital Arts. The presentation is known for its spectacular, unexpected, and novel visuality. It has astonished audiences in other countries, and it can now be seen for the first time in Cuba.
The cast is made up of José María Vitier on piano and composition, Niurka González on the flute, Yaroldy Abreu on the tumbadoras, Abel Acosta on the double bass and percussion, and soprano Bárbara Llanes.
Noche Insular is a journey through José María Vitier’s music, a show that he created with Havana in his mind and heart. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported and accompanied him in this endeavor.
The artistic direction of Dominique Roland guides the show, which has a Cuban-inspired scenography. Music and image are in perfect harmony, making for a world of imagination, creativity, and surprises. The team that staged that great night in Paris will also be present at the 39th edition of the Jazz Plaza Festival. Only with the magic of Jazz Plaza and the musical essence of José María Vitier, audiences will be treated to an unforgettable experience.
