The exhibition will remain open to the public until May 21 and consists of the most recent artworks in the catalog of the 2021 National Plastic Arts Award winner and leader of the Caguayo Foundation, a project that focuses on the promotion of culture and the rescue of identity through the development of monumental and applied arts.

The exhibition addresses Lescay’s cultural and personal universe. And its versatility shows the impossibility of framing it in styles or genres.

Capable of transforming dreams, stories and figures into sculptures, engravings, paintings and drawings, Lescay has a resume of more than 70 personal exhibitions and a similar number of group shows over nearly five decades.

His professional training includes a major in artistic education in painting in 1968, and Sculpture at the National School of Art (1973), and Master of Art at the Repin Academy of Sculpture, Architecture, Painting and Graphics in St. Petersburg (1979).

One of his greatest contributions to Cuba’s culture is the Caguayo Foundation, established 25 years ago, which ‘stimulates the integration among art, design and architecture schools, as a meeting point where theoretical spaces and production converge.’
