Lizt Alfonso Celebrates 30 Years of Dancing

To Lizt Alfonso, her company’s 30th year is another motive to brighten up the stages. She will celebrate this day with an intense presentation program until next year, together with the audience. First, they offer shows in the Martí Theater, with the show Cuba Vibra, between December 2nd and 5th in this center’s usual schedules.

Afterwards, they will carry their art to several countries, besides making a new call for the next edition of the choreography contest, which had 21 applications from 13 countries this year.

That dance group founded by Lizt, which was first named Danzas Ibéricas expands its horizons towards the community with the creation of the Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba Plus, a Local Development Project that has the purpose of fostering the creation of workshops, as well as development opportunities meant for diverse goals in the world of shows, among other initiatives.

The director and choreographer herself acknowledged the legacy of Spanish folklore in her company, also comprising a very Cuban style, able to nourish from different ways of conceiving dancing from different perspectives.

During the quarantine and their absence from stages due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lizt Alfonso commented in a meeting with the press about the company’s active presence on social media, reaching millions of users with their interpretations.
