Cuban music has a privileged place in this city of the United States, especially among a mostly Latino audience. This privilege was evident with the performance of the Cuban orchestra of Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco .

The popular group is touring several U.S. cities on the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary with a review of the themes of its career that remain in the memory of the dancers.

The concert took place last night in one of the most legendary places in the city, SOB’s (abbreviation of Sounds of Brazil), a venue located in the heart of Manhattan, opened by Larry Gold in 1982 with the purpose of spreading Afro-Latin music.

La boda de Belén, Y Todavía No, Te Dejo Libre, Saliditas Contigo, El Águila, Locos por Mi Habana and Tú me Dijiste Mentiras were some of the songs performed, almost all of them sung by the audience.

The heat felt in New York during these days of July was joined by that of those who, at SOB’s, accompanied Trabuco.

They were in Miami, Virginia and Connecticut. They still have commitments in Los Angeles and San Francisco (California) and in Seattle (Washington); also in Atlanta (Georgia), and maybe something else, because they are being called to return to some places where they left, as they say in good Cuban, the hot track.
