The Cuban musician living in the U.S., Ignacio (Nachito) Herrera, donated musical instruments to the Amadeo Roldán Music School in order to contribute with the development of artistic studies in the same country he was trained as a musician.

A new bridge of love is built by the Cuban composer and pianist, who has lived in the U.S. for over 20 years and is visiting Cuba to perform at the 2022 Jazz Plaza International Festival.

In addition to the musical instruments delivered to the artistic education system, there are also medical supplies to support the fight against COVID-19 in Cuba’s health care facilities.

He also donated flutes, clarinets, and technology equipment for students and professors at the Amadeo Roldán Musica School.

With special pleasure, the renowned artist enjoyed a rehearsal by the Conservatory's Jazz Band, led by Enrique Rodríguez Toledo.

The youth group, founded in 2014, has been recognized in major international events such as the Essentially High School Jazz Band Competition and Festival in the United States, organized by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and in 2019, it was nominated for the Latin Grammy in the Traditional Music category for the album "Vereda Tropical", under the EGREM record label.

Nachito Herrera confirmed he was happy to share the stage with the Jazz Band of the Amadeo Roldán Music School on Sunday, January 23rd, at the Castillo de San Salvador de la Punta in Havana.

In the Cuba Vive live concert, the young musicians will perform, among other songs, "West Side Latin Jazz", composed by Nachito Herrera, as well as the arrangement made by outstanding pianist to the song "A Puerto Padre me voy," by Emiliano Salvador.

During the visit to the Amadeo Roldán Music School, Ignacio Herrera was accompanied by his producer and head of the Herrera-González Company, Mrs. Aurora González, the director of the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra, Marlene Pauley, and the ARTIDEA Company President, from the United States, Shelly Quiala.

It was also highlighted that, in addition to the donation made, they will also make a donation of a piano and furniture for the assembly of a concert hall at the Amadeo Roldán.

The new space will bear the name of Roberto Chorens to evoke the memory of the person who headed the Music School for years and was, no doubt, a leading man in the musical training of Nachito Herrera.

While Havana still hosts the 37th edition of the 2022 Jazz Plaza International Festival, Ignacio Nachito Herrera pays a visit to the Amadeo Roldán elementary and middle school of music to build a new bridge of love between Cuba and the United States.
