Over 50 finalist awards of Alicia Alonso Photography Contest

More than 50 photographers from 14 countries are finalists of the Alicia Alonso International Dance Photography Contest, called in tribute to Cuba's Prima Ballerina Assoluta.

The contest -sponsored by the José Martí Cultural Society and the Cuban National Commission of the UN Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO)- selected 70 photographs grouped in different categories such as master classes, study, stage, behind scenes, dance in landscapes and portraits as well as documentaries.

Organized by the Matria project, the event will judge stage creations of the Peruvian Javier Santos, Australian Clinton Bradbury, Argentine Alicia Sanguinetti and Canadian Daniela Brown, as well as Mexican Jaime Martín.

Likewise, the Cubans Adolfo Izquierdo, Ariel Ley, Francisco González, Enrique Smith, Luis Alberto Alonso, and Raúl Abreu were also selected in that category.

Foreign professionals Alejandro Carmona (Argentina), David Kelly (Australia), Anne-Sylvie Monet (France) are competing for Documentary category, along with Cubans José Antonio Medina, Yailin Alfaro, Ariel Cecilio and Ryanny Torna.

International jury -chaired by renowned artist Gabriel Dávalos and made up of prestigious specialists from the United States, Russia, Argentina and Cuba- will grant several awards for each category and a Grand Prize for the Best Photography.
