January has become, since 1959, a month of celebration and jubilation for the revolutionary triumph that brought Cuba the long-awaited national sovereignty and independence.
Several books have been dedicated to explaining how the island's society, economy, and culture changed after that historic event, which marked a new starting point for the history of our country.
For a better understanding of all these transformations, it is necessary to know laws, official decrees, resolutions, articles and speeches of the time. That has been precisely the task of three Cuban researchers: Delia Luisa López , José Bell and Tania Cara . Scholars have published under the name of Documents of the Cuban Revolution * a series of books in charge of collecting everything that the government of the island was doing in those first years after 1959.
According to a file referring to the volumes, “the project arose in 2004 as a proposal by the Cuban Book Institute to recover the main texts produced by the Revolution since 1959 and publish them in a series run by the Social Sciences Publishing House, which would be called Documents of the Cuban Revolution ».
All these texts include chronologies of the stage to which they refer and well-identified documents according to their function (economic, political, social).
To this day, the books have been published from 1960 to 1968, the latter was recently presented in the Saturday of the Book space .
* The name of the book is maintained, only the year to which they refer in it changes.
