US publishing house Pathfinder is launching new literary pieces in Cuba, a proposal of the 30th edition of the Havana International Book Fair.
“La cuestión judía. Una interpretación marxista (The Jewish Question: A Marxist Interpretation),” by Abram Leon, is one of the pieces of the publishing house that has its stand located in area D, room 11 B, in the Morro-Cabaña Military Historical Park.
Why does anti-Jewish hatred keeps coming back? What are their class roots? Why is there no solution to the Jewish question in capitalism (...) without revolutionary struggles transforming the world? These are some of the questions the author aims to answer.
The other book is entitled “El trabajo, la naturaleza y la evolución de la humanidad (Work, nature and evolution of mankind),” essays written by Federico Engels, Carlos Marx, George Novack, and Mary-Alice Waters, the latter being one of the personalities invited to the greatest literary event in Cuba.
In the words of the renowned writer and president of the publishing house, the volume is quite interesting to understand the value of work, taking into account its genesis as a driving force in the trajectory of humanity for millions of years.
Because without that knowledge, working people cannot see more of the capitalist era, of class exploitation that deforms all social relations, ideas and values, argued Waters, who was also grateful to be back in Havana.
In addition to the new literary works, its collection includes “Zona Roja. Cuba y la batalla contra el ébola en África Occidental (Red Zone. Cuba and the battle against Ebola in West Africa),” by Enrique Ubieta, and “Are they rich because they are intelligent? Class, Privilege, and Learning in Capitalism,” by Jack Barnes.
The publishing house proposes titles linked to the strides made by the labor movement and the history of Marxism, such as "In defense of the American working class," by Waters, and "Malcom X, the liberation of blacks and the road to workers' power," by Barnes.
Since 1984, Pathfinder has participated in the Havana International Book Fair and keeps working with the Cuban publishing system that has paved the way for joint publications with national publishing houses Ciencias Sociales, Editora Política, and Abril.
