The Socialist Republic of Vietnam will be the Guest of Honor of the 29th International Book Fair Havana 2020, the most popular and massive event of Cuban literature, according to the Cultural Communication Center of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba.
Vietnam will come to Havana with its culture, traditions, books and diverse arts, to participate in the book event to be held between February 6 and 16.
The presence of this Asian country in the Cuban capital, which has recently celebrated the five centuries of its foundation, ratifies the historical and special relations between that nation and Cuba, which date back almost six decades of cooperation, brotherhood and solidarity in the most diverse spheres of society and culture.
Cuban and Vietnamese publishers will present to the national and foreign readers a panorama of the literature of that brother country, whose roots are in the most transcendental events of history that have been accompanied by everlasting feats in defense of the national values, independence and freedom of the Ho Chi Minh people.
The Havana International Book Fair was first held in 1982 as a biannual cycle, and from 2000 it began to take place annually, with the San Carlos de la Cabaña fortress as its permanent headquarters, although it usually extends to other spaces and institutions in Havana and then crosses the entire country with its program of literary presentations, book sales, and theoretical meetings.
Each edition is dedicated to a different writer and country.
