Several institutions of the country will develop -during the current month of January 2022-, a vigorous and intense day on the occasion of the 169th anniversary of the birth of the Apostle of Cuba, José Martí.
The activities between January 7 and 28 will explore the imprint, legacy, and transcendence of the Master in the new generations through exhibitions, poetry interpretation contests, trova concerts, among other proposals.
During those days, several activities will take place at the José Martí Birthplace Museum, starting this program on Friday, January 7, at 10:00 a.m., with the performance of the National Concert Band, conducted by maestro Igor Corcuera, which will be especially dedicated to the 63rd anniversary of Fidel's victorious entry into Havana.
With the presence of maestro Noemí Valdés Valladares, accompanied by pianist Ana María Mena Cabezas, the tertulia martiana will take place, a special moment where music and poetry will be the protagonists.
Also in the popularly known as Casita de Martí will take place on Saturday, January 15, the Martí's Poetry Interpretation Contest Verso amigo, in which children will declaim lyrical passages of the author of Versos Sencillos and La Edad de Oro (Simple Verses and The Golden Age).
On Sunday, January 23, there will be a children's artistic gala and awards ceremony for the competition Pinta mi amigo el pintor and on Wednesday, January 26, the book Tras los pasos de José Julián Martí Pérez (1853-1879), by Josep Trujillo Fonseca, will be presented.
A special moment will be experienced at the José Martí Birthplace Museum on Thursday, January 27, with the opening of the photographic exhibition Bustos de Martí, by Lorenzo Santos (Losama) and the development of the vigil in anticipation of the birth of José Martí, in which trovadores and young artists, writers, and poets of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) will perform.
Meanwhile, on Friday, January 28, at 10:00 a.m., the Martiano Parade of the Flower and the Flag will take place, which is coordinated by the Municipal Education Department, and in which the Don Mariano Martí Elementary School will pay tribute to the National Hero.
At the Rubén Martínez Villena Public Library, starting on Friday, January 7, the exhibition Martí in Plastic Arts will be on display, with the main paintings of the Apostle from the Republic to the present and on Thursday, January 27, at 11:00 a.m., the usual space Music Corner will be held, this time with the verses of José Martí in the Guantanamera.
Meanwhile, at Casa Simón Bolívar, starting on Thursday, January 27, the exhibition Latin America evokes José Martí, featuring paintings of Latin American independence heroes, will be open in the museum classroom.
