Cuban people will recall in June this year those three meetings held by Fidel Castro, Osvaldo Dorticós and other leaders of the Cuban revolutionary government with artists and writers, which took place at the José Martí National Library 60 years ago. Under the slogan: “Words towards the Intellectuals”, such encounter has been recalled in the history of Cuba as an event that marked the beginning of a long-term and consistent relationship among the political and artistic avant-garde movements in Cuba. “Words to the intellectuals” turned into the basis of principles for the Cuban Cultural Policy and its artistic expressions.
The Ministry of Culture has been organizing a program to evoke such crucial event. Thinking around the current challenges in terms of the Cuban cultural policy will bring about carrying out significant actions to support encounters among the people throughout the country. Education, science and the mass media and other sectors are related to some editorials projects and audiovisual works that they encompass interesting offers for the public to get closer the best thing of our artistic expressions.
Social networks facebook and twitter and YouTube channels will be very important to carry out all those actions and they will be linked to the Ministry of Culture. Also UNEAC (Union of writers and artists of Cuba, after its initials in Spanish) along with AHS (Hermanos Saiz Association, after its initials in Spanish) will join this commemoration with to celebrate their 60th and 35th anniversaries respectively.
You have the word is the message for this commemoration. It is an invitation to grow as persons, to be willingly to dialogue, to differ with respect, to be aware of our responsibility with the Cuban history and the culture formation we are facing today. It is about to make people aware of the revolution achievements and its future.
Young people will play the main role in that discussion. It will be an opportunity for them to evoke that date and highlight its historical significance in the present times along with the participation of those older generations that have been formed after the Cuban Revolution.
THE LAST WORD HAS NOT BEEN SAID YET. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO LAST FOR LIFE. WE DON'T NEED JUDGES, BUT PROTAGONISTS. WE GIVE YOU THE FLOOR!
