Pieces created by Ludwig van Beethoven sound today in this capital from the hands of new and experienced Cuban artists, who honor the legacy of the German composer on the 251st anniversary of his birth.
With a one-year delay due to the impact of COVID-19, the Beethoven Festival arrives on the island's cultural scene, an event that will run through the repertoire of the iconic artist until December 19 and will settle an outstanding debt since 2020 was declared the Beethoven Year, after two and a half centuries of arrival in the world.
According to the Lyceum Mozartiano, the event will take place at the San Felipe Neri Oratory with performances by Lianne Vega, Elvira Santiago, Ulises Hernández, José A. Méndez Padrón, Marita Rodríguez, Art-Trío, among others.
"The work of the brilliant German composer on this occasion combines experience and youth with the presence of new musicians", details the press release, which also highlights the performance of Vega, who will open the meeting with sonatas No. 8 Op. 13 Do minor, No. 12 Op. 26 Lab major and No. 18, Op. 31 No. 3 Eb Major.
Likewise, the pedagogue and concert artist Santiago will offer her talent at the closing of the appointment with three sonatas, while Maestro Hernández completes the program accompanied by the Lyceum Orchestra of Havana, under the baton of Méndez Padrón, who will premiere the concert in Cuba No. 0 for piano and orchestra.
For her part, Maestra Rodríguez will share the stage with young singers and instrumentalists for the premiere in the Caribbean nation of six of the Welsh songs and the Art-Trío group will perform Archduke, one of the pieces less known by the local public. (Text and photo: PL)
