The Buena Vista Social Orchestra is an exciting musical and dance provocative stage production featuring key players from throughout the history of Cuban music genres. Continuing the legacy of this legendary and cultural movement, the group aims to keep the arts, music, and culture of Cuba alive with a colorful show featuring a repertoire pulled from the greatest hits, many of which were composed by Ramos, and deep-dive cuts. The Buena Vista Social Orchestra will celebrate the various styles of Cuban music playing everything from Guajira, Son, Danzon, Son Montuno, Pilon, Cha Cha Cha, Changui and Bolero to Guaracha, Ritmo Batanga, Afro, Latin Jazz and more. The tour is being brought to the U.S. by The School of Sacred Knowledge and the band’s record label SSK Records.

For the inaugural U.S. tour from The Buena Vista Social Orchestra, Aguaje (trombone, music director, conductor) is joined by an all-star ensemble including original BVSC members Luis “Betun” Mariano Valiente Marin (congas, bongo), Emilio Senon Morales Ruiz (keys), and Fabian Garcia (bass). Rounding out the lineup is Lorena Lazara Ramos Diaz (trombone, vocals), Aldo Isidro Miranda Alvarez (vocals), Geidi Chapman (vocals, guitar), Antonio Remigio Rubio Borayo (timbal, percussion), Rogelio Ricardo Oliva Orelly (emcee, vocals).

In anticipation for their upcoming tour, which will begin in the U.S. before expanding worldwide, Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos and The Buena Vista Social Orchestra recently released their new single “Babalu” via SSK Records/The Orchard – PRESS HERE to listen. “Babalu,” the first in a series of music from The Buena Vista Social Orchestra coming out this year, is a remixed and remastered extended arrangement of an original track off their 2023 debut album, Greatest Recorded Performances.

In addition to his work with the Buena Vista Social Club, Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos has served long stints in the world-class ensembles Estrellas de Arieto and Afro-Cuban Allstars. His past musical journey and history is brought into focus throughout the critically acclaimed 1999 documentary Buena Vista Social Club. Ramos performed on the beloved recordings of the Buena Vista Social Club and Afro-Cuban Allstars as well as the solo albums of fellow ensemble members Ibrahim Ferrer, Ruben Gonzales and Omara Portuondo. The 73-year-old Cuban artist has been touring extensively since 1997 with many Afro-Cuban projects, including the renowned “Adios” Tour, where he was a prominent member and musical director of the production that brought Cuban cultural music back into international prominence. Ramos and his Buena Vista Social Orchestra began touring and playing shows in the mid-2010’s, becoming a darling of critics and audiences throughout North America, Europe, Central and South America.
