This Estamos Contigo concert went on to the rhythm of cha-cha. It was broadcasted on Wednesday, June 8th on Canal Clave; also, on the Cuban Institute of Music’s Facebook page, and on the Ministry of Culture’s YouTube channel.
It couldn’t have been in any other way, because the orchestra named after great Enrique Jorrín was on the virtual stage. He is worldly known as the creator of the cha-cha, which is a great contribution to musical history. Its rhythm and sound are still full of life, being present for almost seventy years in the musical scene.
The current Enrique Jorrín Orchestra (which belongs to the Ignacio Piñeiro Music and Show Trading Company) is a true executor of its creator’s artistic work; being also a reviver and promoter of the national tradition of the charanga.
In this evening, the orchestra performed: La Engañadora, Tiburón, and Milagro del Chacha, three pieces created by Enrique Jorrín; and others like La Vida Tiene su Cosa, by Miguel Jorrín, and La Blusa Azul by Isabel Serpa.
It was an exquisite evening that made us dance, which confirmed the fact that good music is timeless.
