The Latin-American piano contest America para Todos, which is organized by the Pianist and Teacher Society of Latin-America and the Caribbean had its second edition online on Sunday, November 14, also making public the winners. For our satisfaction, our Cuban School of Piano has acknowledged once again.

Two Cuban children were awarded the first and second prize in the category of Little Latin-American Pianist B, respectively: Emily Elizabeth Rufin Lezcano, 10 years old, student at the Art School of Matanzas; and Ronny Yunior López Vega, 11 years old, from the Manuel Saumell Conservatory in Havana. Also, they both won the Special Award for best performance of Latin-American Music; in the case of Emily with the piece Angeles de Paso, by Ernán López-Nussa; and Ronny with Romanza del Cocoliso Cimarrón, dedicated to him by its author, the clarinetists Alejandro (Coquí) Calzadilla.

It is important to mention the work of the teachers Hortensia Upmann, Aymee Herrera, and Mary Horta, whose esteemed work is appreciable in this student’s results. The Cuban System of Art Teaching honors Cuba once again within Latin-America.

Congratulations to these young pianists, their teachers and family, who have proved once again that success is achieved with effort and determination.
