The Second International Meeting of Collectors and Music Lovers will take place on the 23rd and 24th of this month, in the Areito Hall of the Musical Recordings and Editions Company (Egrem), in Central Havana.
It is planned to listen to records of the attending foreign and national collectors, exchange criteria related to the subject and hold mini-conference sessions led by personalities from the recording world.
Darsi Fernández, editor of Magazine AM:PM , will comment on the magazine's approach to vinyl, published articles and open lines of work, while maestro Enrique Lazaga, an expert güiro player, will give a master class as a sample of the possibilities sounds of that instrument
Another of the activities of this Second Meeting is the tribute to NG La Banda, in which Germán Velazco, Issac Delgado and Giraldo Piloto will participate.
On Saturday there will be the National Design Award winner, Pepe Menéndez, who will talk about the design of vinyl record covers, his golden age, and the presence of great designers, who are no longer here, but belonged to a period of high artistic invoice.
Representatives from Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Cubans residing in the US will participate in the event, among other exponents of Cuban vinyl.
Dedicated to Colombia as the guest country and to the Cuban-Colombian researcher, Adriana Orejuela, the event seeks to make visible vinyl collections that include important segments of the national staff.
There will be exhibitions, sale of articles, and the presentation of the Casinoteca community project, who will demonstrate their dancing skills and at the same time the rhythmic richness of Cuban music.
As a prelude to the meeting, from Monday to Sunday emblematic groups of our music will perform in the venue, including La Charanga Rubalcaba, the Septeto Habanero, Ronald y Explosión Rumbera, and La Banda de Benny Moré.
On Friday and Saturday there will be Idra María and Aguanile, and the Chapottín Ensemble and its stars; while on Sunday, Millo and Yyerosum, as the culmination of the event.
