The 7th Music and Youth Symposium, prior to the Piña Colada Festival, began at the Maximo Gomez University on Wednesday with the presence of musicologists, artists and specialists from different musical genres in Cuba.
The theoretical event will take place until Friday, and consists of lectures, album releases, master classes, the musical podcasts Sonogramas and Trovando, from Radio Rebelde, visits to artistic education centers and performances by young exponents of Cuban music. Miraima Garcia, a musicologist from Ciego de Avila, noted that during the meeting, there will be talks about the life and work of personalities of local culture such as Armando Rondon, Armando Alfonso Padilla, Andres Hernandez and Cesar Alberti, who will be honored at the 20th Piña Colada Festival.
She stated that the CD Julian, Adrian Berazain’s latest musical production, dedicated to Cuban National Hero Jose Marti and his son, will be presented.
Among the guest artists are Vania Borges, Alexander Abreu and Havana D’Primera, Annie Garces, Buena Fe, Duo Iris, the Karamba group, Wena Onda, Toques del Rio and Laritza Bacallao, as well as the Boyeros Concert Band under the direction of Daya Aceituno, Los 4, and singer songwriters Raul Torres and Leo CH.
The galas will be conducted by actors Denys Ramos, Belissa Cruz, Giselle Gonzalez and Alejandro Cuervo.
