The Piña Colada Fusion Music Festival will return to stage in Ciego de Avila from April 1 to 4, Mr. Arnaldo Rodríguez, president of the event's organizing committee and leader of the Talismán group has recently informed.
Rodriguez stressed that this edition will require the participant’s presence, after the halt imposed by the pandemic, but in a special way, by complying with the necessary sanitary measures to prevent the infection with COVID-19.
Dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Young Communist League, to all health personnel and other sectors that contribute to fight the lethal disease, the festival will develop interventions in communities and places of social interest in the capital city.
The performances of invited artists and groups will take place mainly in closed venues but there will also be concerts in open-air space.
Arnaldo Rodriguez commented that for the sixth time, the Music and Youth symposium will take place within the framework of Pina Colada event, and will dedicate its panels, lectures and classes to the centenary of Cuban Radio, its role in the dissemination of music and the formation of musical culture in young people.
He added that the usual spaces for national concerts will also host groups from the local company Musicavila, which will allow the presence of fusion and alternative music artists, without closing the doors to other musical genres.
The festival will be promoting the event, but around it, a parallel party might take place as well, which includes the participation of other genres, without distinction.
Among the initiatives of other sectors, there will also be a food festival of the Culinary Association of Ciego de Avila, linked to pineapple fruit and all the dishes derived from it.
The Organizing Committee intends to promote the event internationally for future editions, in order to encourage the participation of foreign visitors, depending always on the epidemiological conditions.
