Guanabacoa is the hometown of Ignacio Villa, the place where he was born on September 11, 1911. His undeniable genius made him a singer, pianist and
composer, who marked a long period of cultural events in the country and the world with his art and style.
He studied music at the Conservatory Mateu of Guanabacoa and began his professional career as a pianist in the silent cinemas of the moment. In 1933, he
worked in Mexico as a pianist accompanying the incomparable Rita Montaner, who was the one who baptized him as Snowball, an artistic name that he would show
off with pride throughout his life.
Owner of an original and unique style of interpretation, he took over the stages of Cuba and other countries, where many of the songs composed by him were huge successes that still remain.
Death surprised him in Mexico City on October 2, 1971. He rests in peace at the cemetery of his beloved Guanabacoa.
