The National Symphony Orchestra announced the celebration of a concert on January 14 in tribute to the 80th birthday of maestro Guido López-Gavilán.
The presentation at the Covarrubias Hall of the National Theater of Cuba will allow to listen to well-known works by the renowned Cuban conductor and composer, which will be performed by soloists, among them talented young people very close to López-Gavilán.
The pieces "Sol de batey", by his granddaughters Adriana and Andrea López-Gavilán; and "Chacona", by Tania Haase and Rodrigo García, will be performed by the award-winning composer. Mojito con saoco" will also be played by the orchestra under the baton of guest conductor Daiana García, while López-Gavilán will play "La Noche", "Poema con trova y son" and "Guaguancó".
